Disease in general.

Ampullae

Spermiostasis

Stallions with the ejaculatory dysfunction "spermiostasis" are considered to accumulate spermatozoa in the ampullae, deferent ducts or epididymides. With ejaculation, there is necrozoospermia and teratozoospermia (detached heads). There may be 'ampullary plugs'. nAfter multiple semen collections, the quality improves and becomes normzoospermic. Lesions are not identified.

Vesicular glands

Adenitis

Purulent, abscessating vesicular adenitis is described, but appears to be uncommon. Bacterial vesicular adenitis and ampullitis occur sporadically and may be a cause of “colic.”

Neoplasia

A gelding with a perirectal mass was found to have a solid carcinoma. It arose from an accessory gland but the origin was unknown as it was large and infiltrative.
